REGULAR CHECK-UP
A regular check-up by Dr. Potgieter provides the basis for good dental care. Depending on the health of your teeth and gums, we will determine how often you need to come in for a check-up.
What we do:
During regular check-ups we evaluate the health of your teeth and gums. We carefully check the quality of maintenance and, if necessary, we will remove tartar. We also provide valuable advice on how to improve your oral hygiene or how to maintain good oral health. If we confirm during a check-up that further treatments are necessary, your dentist will discuss what remains to be done with you and how many appointments will be required to fix the problem. Your dentist will also supply you with an indication of how much the treatment will cost.

To prevent pain and to prevent your dentures from becoming too loose, we recommend that you should visit your dentist at least once a year. Even if you have no complaints, we recommend that you have your dentures checked annually. The reason this is so important is that the decline of your alveolar ridge of the jaw bone often goes unnoticed. Your dentist can re-adjust your dentures so that they fit more comfortably. Alternatively, he can timeously recommend a new set of dentures. It usually takes between one and 10 years for a denture to wear down. Your dentist will also ensure that your mouth is still healthy. People with ill-fitting dentures or those who have been wearing dentures for years, can be prone to nasty mouth disorders.
